FRIDAY · THE TINY ADVENTURE

This weekend we are going to send you out in whatever weather arrives, especially if it is the kind you would normally stay in for.

Rain, wind, the first proper cold of the season, a gray Saturday that seems designed for staying on the sofa. That is the invitation.

Most of us treat bad weather as something to wait out. We check the forecast, we postpone, we watch it from a window and feel faintly cozy for having avoided it.

But there is a particular pleasure that only shows up when you go out into weather on purpose, and almost no adult ever claims it.

Think about how you experienced rain as a child. Not as an inconvenience but as an event, something to run into, something that made an ordinary afternoon feel different.

The weather has not changed. Only your relationship to it has, and that relationship is mostly about not wanting to get messy, or cold, or seen with wet hair.

Three weeks ago we gave you sixty seconds of weather standing still. This is the same thing with the volume turned up.

Scientists Alarmed: If Your Memory Is Slipping, This Can Happen In 30 Days

Even Oxford and Cambridge researchers were alarmed when they saw this:

Every person suffering from memory problems has this one disturbing thing in common…

And without intervention, it takes less than 30 days for the damage to accelerate…

Triggering more serious conditions — including early onset dementia and COMPLETE MEMORY SHUTDOWN

Top brain experts urge you to take action immediately.

If you want to find out what's really happening inside your brain — and how to stop it — you need to see this now:

So this weekend, go for a walk in it. Twenty minutes is plenty.

Wear a coat if you want to, or do not, and let the rain do what it does. Walk slowly instead of hurrying from one dry place to the next.

Notice how the air smells. Notice how loud the world is with rain in it, and how empty the streets get, and how few other people are doing what you are doing.

You will come home with damp hair and cold hands and a strange feeling of having done something slightly rebellious. That feeling is the point.

And then you will make yourself something hot, and sit down with it, and it will be one of the best cups of the whole week. That comes free with going out in the weather.

THIS WEEKEND

Check the forecast and choose the worst-looking hour, then go out in it for twenty minutes. Walk slowly. Come home and make yourself something warm, and sit down to drink it.

And tell me what the weather did. Hit reply. I read them.

ONE THING TO NOTICE

Today, notice how often you plan your day around avoiding the weather. See what you might be missing on the other side of the window.

See you Monday.
