MONDAY · THE GENTLE OPEN
The fastest feeling you have is the one you trust the least.
A text comes through. Plans are off, and before you can form a single thought about it, the relief is already there, full and immediate.
Then the correction arrives. You are composing the disappointed reply, “oh no, that is too bad,” while the relief is still warm in your chest.
The disappointed response goes out in seconds, the tone exactly right. You barely register the distance between what you felt and what you said.
The guilt tells you that you should want to see people, that you should look forward to the plan. Wanting the evening back means you are selfish, or withdrawing from your own life.
It is the same reflex that teaches you to work quietly around whatever your body is doing, so nobody else has to hear about it. Small leaks are one of those things, and you were probably told they simply come with age or with children.
Dr. Sarah Pachtman Shetty, who sponsors today’s letter, has made a free video about it. It is just below, if it would be useful to you.

Surgery Won’t Fix Your Leaky Bladder (But This 7-Second Ritual Will)
My name is Dr. Sarah Pachtman Shetty and I want you to know that you’ve been lied to when it comes to pee leaks.
Let’s bust some myths:
❌ “It's normal after kids/getting older.”
It's COMMON, not normal. And common means it can be fixed.
❌ “You need surgery to fix it.”
Surgery is expensive, scary, and doesn’t really fix the root cause.
❌ “You just have a small bladder, it must run in the family.”
No it doesn’t. That’s just an excuse doctors make up to avoid treating you.
Your bladder CAN be reset in just 7 seconds a day. You don’t need invasive surgery, annoying kegels or toxic pills.
I made a free video showing you exactly how:
But the relief came first.
It was not a decision you made. It showed up before any story about who you are could catch up with it.
The guilt is the edit, not the original. You have treated the correction as the truth for so long that the relief barely gets a full breath before you cover it over.
The same edit runs on warmth, which we took apart when you were allowed to be cold to them.
Uncommitted time has become so rare that when a piece of it surfaces, your whole self reaches for it. That reaching is desire, plain and undecorated.
This week, if something cancels and the relief comes first, let it stay. It was your real answer.
THE PERMISSION SLIP
Today you have permission to feel glad when something gets canceled.
THE RECLAMATION LIST
Things worth remembering you love about an evening that opens up:
The looseness in your shoulders the moment you realize the evening belongs to no one.
Dinner from whatever is already there, eaten whenever you feel like it.
Sitting down and knowing no one needs a ride anywhere tonight.
The stretch between now and sleep, with no name on it but yours.
If someone came to mind while you were reading this, send her these letters. The Permission Slips are yours when she stays.
