TUESDAY · THE SMALL INVITATION
There is an aisle in every drugstore where women slow down without meaning to.
The one with the candles, or the soap, or the little bottles of lotion that no one actually needs.
You used to linger there. You used to pick something up, hold it to your nose, and breathe in for no reason other than it felt good.
At some point, scent became purely functional. The detergent that works, the soap that was on sale, the lotion that does not bother anyone else’s skin.
You stopped choosing what pleased you and started choosing what was invisible. Unobtrusive, inoffensive, fine for everyone.
This sounds like such a small thing. But it is not small at all.
Scent is one of the most private preferences a person can have. Nobody else needs to approve of what you love to smell.
And yet even this got filed under unnecessary. Even this quietly got handed over.
It is the same rule as the lunch eaten standing at the counter. The good version goes to everyone else, and you take whatever is left.
Today, I want you to smell something purely for pleasure.
That is the whole invitation. Two minutes, maybe less.
Some of the scents you used to choose were for night, the lotion on the nightstand, the candle lit before bed. If your nights have gotten harder too, especially the 3 a.m. kind, today’s sponsor has a short routine for it just below.

Do THIS Tonight to STOP 3 AM Wake-Ups & Melt Fat!
If you fall asleep just fine…
But your eyes snap open around 3 AM and your mind instantly starts racing…
Bills… Kids… Your health… Regrets…
Then you lie there staring at the ceiling, exhausted but wired, watching the clock crawl toward another zombie day…
That’s why the scale won’t budge no matter how hard you try!
So, try this tonight:
Step 1: Do this 30-second cherry trick
Step 2: Wait half an hour, then go to bed like normal
Don't be surprised when your eyes open… the clock says 7 AM… and you’ve slept straight through the night.
No 3 AM wake-ups and NO racing thoughts keeping you staring at the ceiling.
This exact method was discovered by Dr. Collins - a sleep expert with 18 years of sleep research…
And it helped Jessica Brown, a 48 years old talk show host, sleep straight through the night for the first time in 6 years...
And as a strange bonus?
She dropped 22 Ibs without changing her diet or exercising.
Turns out, those brutal 3 AM wake-ups were secretly packing fat onto her belly every single night.
Once they stopped and she started sleeping like a baby once again, the weight just... melted.
So, if you have over 20 Ibs you wanna lose…
First, make sure you improve your sleep by trying the cherry trick tonight:
Sleep tight!
Walk into a store and find the candle aisle or the soap display or the perfume counter. Pick things up, hold them close, breathe in slowly.
Notice which ones make you pause. Notice which ones you put back immediately.
Or open your own spice cabinet. Smell the cinnamon, the cardamom, the jar you bought for a recipe you made once and never made again.
Or crush a leaf between your fingers if you pass something growing outside.
You are not shopping. You are not running an errand.
You are finding out what you like. That is a sentence that deserves to land, so I will say it again: you are finding out what you like.
You do not need to buy anything or do anything with the information. Just let it register.
Let your own preference exist in the room for a moment, without asking anyone else if it is too strong or too sweet or too much.
That is enough for today.
WHAT SHE SAID
"Smell is a potent wizard that transports us across a thousand miles and all the years we have lived."
Helen Keller wrote that in The World I Live In. She understood, better than most, what it means to pay full attention to a sense that everyone else rushes past.
THE QUESTION TO SIT WITH
If I walked into a room that smelled exactly like the most contented season of my life, what would I smell?
THE BREADCRUMB
Tomorrow, we are going to talk about a way you used to move through a room.
If someone came to mind while you were reading this, send her these letters. The Permission Slips are yours when she stays.
